About Behind the Lobby Doors
Welcome to Behind the Lobby Doors, a podcast where leadership gets real.
I’m Stephanie Sherman, and after years of leading teams in hospitality, I’ve learned that the biggest lessons in leadership don’t happen in boardrooms—they happen in the everyday moments. The difficult conversations, the tough decisions, the guest interactions, the team victories, the failures, and everything in between.
This podcast goes beyond hotels. While many of the stories come from my experience in hospitality, the lessons apply to anyone who leads people, wants to grow in their career, or simply wants to become a better version of themselves.
Each episode is an honest conversation about leadership, workplace culture, customer service, burnout, communication, personal growth, and the challenges leaders face that most people never see. I’ll also share real-life stories, practical strategies, and occasionally step into the unexpected with After Hours—our Twilight Zone–inspired series of mysterious tales from the world of hospitality.
My goal is simple: to create a place where leaders can learn, reflect, laugh, and remember that none of us have all the answers. Leadership isn’t about being perfect. It’s about continuing to grow, helping others succeed, and having the courage to lead with authenticity.
So come on in, grab a seat, and let’s open the doors to the conversations that happen behind the scenes.
Welcome to Behind the Lobby Doors.
About Behind the Lobby Doors – Afterhours
When the lobby gets quiet and the last guest checks in, the stories begin.
Behind the Lobby Doors: After Dark is a Twilight Zone–inspired storytelling series that explores the strange, unexplained, and unforgettable mysteries hidden within the walls of hotels. These aren’t ghost stories filled with jump scares—they’re slow-burning tales of suspense, eerie coincidences, impossible events, and the questions that linger long after the lights come back on.
Follow Charlie, the night auditor, and other hotel staff as they encounter rooms that shouldn’t exist, mysterious phone calls, invisible walls, unexplained guests, and the unsettling secrets that seem to come alive after midnight.
Each episode blends atmospheric storytelling with the everyday world of hospitality, reminding us that the most ordinary places can hide the most extraordinary mysteries.
So lock the doors, dim the lights, and step into the night…
Because some things only happen Behind the Lobby Doors: After Dark.
About the Author
Hi, I’m Stephanie Sherman.
I’m a hospitality leader, podcast host, and passionate believer that great leadership starts with people.
For more than a decade, I’ve had the privilege of leading teams in hospitality, where I’ve learned that the most valuable leadership lessons rarely happen in a boardroom. They happen during the busiest shifts, difficult conversations, unexpected challenges, and everyday moments that test who we are as leaders.
That’s why I created Behind the Lobby Doors.
This platform is a place where leadership is real—not perfect. It’s where we have honest conversations about building strong teams, creating positive workplace cultures, navigating challenges, and becoming the kind of leader people want to work with.
While my roots are in hospitality, the lessons shared here extend far beyond hotels. Whether you lead a business, a department, a classroom, a nonprofit, or a small team, leadership is ultimately about serving people, earning trust, and creating an environment where others can succeed.
My goal is simple: to provide practical leadership insights, share real-world experiences, and encourage leaders to continue growing—one conversation at a time.
When I’m not leading operations or recording a new podcast episode, you’ll usually find me developing leadership content, writing, creating training resources, or finding new ways to inspire others to lead with confidence, compassion, and purpose.
Thank you for stopping by.
I hope you’ll explore the podcast, join the conversation, and become part of a growing community of leaders who believe that the best lessons are often found behind the scenes.
Welcome to Behind the Lobby Doors.
I’m glad you’re here.
